How do I add phone numbers to customers in the CSV names list?

If you're planning to use SMS notifications in your communication profile or in newsletters, you'll want to make sure the system recognizes the numbers to send them correctly.

It is mandatory to enter the country code to all phone numbers uploaded through CSV names lists.

It doesn't matter whether you use spaces, dashes, or parentheses. Each of the following will work for US numbers:

1 (234) 567-8901
1(234)567-8901
12345678901
1 234 567 8901

The important thing is that the country code ('1') is included in the number. If you use any of the above without the country code, the system will not recognize it.

Let's look at some examples of how to enter the customer's data correctly and incorrectly. Below, we entered the data into a CSV file in Excel. Note that the first three contain a country code, and the other three do not.

Uploading this CSV will show the following screen. It may appear that the bottom three are correct, but as we will see in the last image, they are not.

If you navigate to the Photo Job's Selling area and scroll down, you will see each access code's customer information. Notice that the system tried to recognize a country code in all of them. Since only the first three included the correct country code, those will be the only ones to receive SMS notifications.
