Create Package and Pricing Options for Siblings

Overview

When working with customers who have multiple subjects (e.g. parents with multiple children in the same school), striking the right balance between affordability and profitability is key. In this article, we'll go over the 2 options you have for setting up sibling packages: (1) Limiting packages by access code, and (2) dedicated sibling price profiles. In addition, we'll review an option for providing a tiered discount for parents purchasing for multiple children.

Limiting Packages by Access Code

For school photography, the most used access type is one access code per child — in other words, you'll have one QR card (one access code) for each individual on photo day. Once the photo job is set to selling, it's possible that your customers (parents) have multiple QR cards (access codes), one for each one of their children — they can then log into your shop using each one of their access codes to see all of their children's photos.

On the page of your package, under Settings you have the choice of whether or not to tick the Limit to one access box:

Product Package with "Limit to one access" checked

If you have a product package with the "Limit to one access" checked, parents won't be able to mix and match photos from their kids to build a single package. Instead the shop will prompt them for which access code they'd like to build a package with.

Product Package with "Limit to one access" unchecked

If you don't have the Limit to one access setting checked in the product package, the parent will be able to build a package with photos from two or more access codes. Screen_Shot_2021-07-02_at_11.05.26_AM.png

Dedicated Sibling Price Profiles

Most of your packages in your price profile can be limited by one access code with the exception of one or two packages that aren't limited to one access code.

As indicated above, the Simple, Classic, and Super Packages are all single pose (one image) and they're each limited to one access code. The Premium Package is also limited to one access code but it's a multi-pose package. The only package parents can purchase and mix and match between access codes is the Siblings Package.

Tiered Discount

If you want to accommodate families with several children, we recommend that you work with three discount levels in the photo order:

The Takeaway

When working with customers who have multiple children in the same school, there are two options for setting up sibling packages: limiting packages by access code or using dedicated sibling price profiles. The choice between these options determines whether parents can mix and match photos of different children to create a single package or not.
