Upload Your Photos

Overview

GotPhoto provides several options for uploading your photos into the platform. In this article, we'll review the requirements for photo uploads, as well as briefly explain your options for upload methods.

Requirements for Photo Uploads

Please note the following requirements for uploading photos:

  • Files must be either JPG or PNG
  • Color space must be sRGB
  • Maximum size: 4,000 pixels on the long edge
  • Recommended Maximum DPI: 300 (240 DPI for larger products like posters)
  • For the best customer experience, keep file sizes below 8MB

Photos that do not meet these requirements will not upload correctly.

We also recommend you check the following before uploading your photos:

  • Display/Monitor Calibration: Please ensure your monitor is correctly calibrated. Otherwise, printed products will not match your customer’s expectations.
  • Photo Size & Quality:  We recommend a size of around 3500 px long edge and JPEG quality 80% (Lightroom) / level 9 (Photoshop). With this size, you can also produce canvases up to 30x45 and all gift articles.
  • Aspect Ratio: Your digital images and the products you offer should always have the same aspect ratio (3:2 or 4:3 is common, depending on the camera type). This ensures that the motif cropping is kept as small as possible. Detailed settings can be adjusted within your price profiles.

Choosing an Upload Method

⚠ Important: Make sure to switch your job to "planning" when you go to upload images using any of these methods.

Click on any of the options below to be taken to a more in-depth explanation.

  1. Easy Upload: Our own, internally developed photo uploading tool. It’s free to download for Mac and Windows users and has a very simple user interface. Simply upload the photos into your album, or drag and drop entire folders and the app will build your galleries and sort the images for you.
  2. Lightroom Plugin: An sFTP upload plugin that integrates with your Lightroom software to enable you to upload photos from Lightroom directly to your jobs in GotPhoto. Recommended for those who are already using Lightroom as part of their workflow.
  3. FTP upload: Upload photos to your jobs in GotPhoto using your preferred FTP software.
  4. You can always upload photos using your web browser. However, we only recommend using this method to upload a few photos for a very small job or to add additional photos to an existing gallery. High-volume jobs should defer to one of the other options above; otherwise, it will take a long time to upload all the photos.

The Takeaway

Selecting the right upload method on GotPhoto depends on your preferences and the scale of your job. For high-volume jobs, opting for Easy Upload, Lightroom Plugin, or FTP is recommended to ensure efficient and timely photo uploads. Remember to adhere to file format and size requirements for the best customer experience.
